Use cloud storage in Gemini and Antigravity

Let Google's AI tools work on files in any storage RaiDrive supports — a cloud drive, object storage or a NAS — through a RaiDrive drive:

Tool How it uses the drive Results
Gemini app Uploads copies of the files you choose on the drive Stay in the chat — download what you need
Gemini CLI Works in a folder on the drive Saved to the folder
Antigravity app Works in a folder on the drive Saved to the folder
Antigravity CLI Works in a folder on the drive Saved to the folder

A CLI is a program you run by typing its name in a terminal (a window where you type commands, such as PowerShell).

Before you begin

Gemini app

The Gemini app does not work in a folder on your PC. It uploads copies of the files you choose, and its results stay in the chat:

  1. In the Gemini app, click + below the message box, then Upload files.
  2. In the file picker (the window where you choose files), open the folder on the drive (for example Z:\Exports).
  3. Select the files and click Open.

  4. Ask about the files.

Upload a whole folder

You can also upload a whole folder on the drive:

  1. Click + → More uploads → Import code.
  2. Click Upload folder. In the folder picker, choose the folder on the drive, then click Upload.

This feature is made for code folders (Google's help: adding a code folder to the chat). So Gemini reads only the text files in the folder. A text file is a file you can open and read in Notepad — .csv, .md, source code. Gemini cannot read a file that is not text, such as an Excel workbook, when it is uploaded this way. This is how Gemini works. It is the same for a folder on the drive and for a folder on the PC; RaiDrive delivers the same files in both cases. For workbooks, documents, PDF files and images use Upload files. Upload files keeps the file format.

The Gemini app does not save anything to the drive. To keep a result, such as a file it makes, download it from the chat and save it to the drive yourself.

Gemini CLI

Antigravity CLI signs in with your Google account. Gemini CLI signs in in a different way: since June 18, 2026, Gemini CLI no longer accepts Login with Google for individual accounts; Google moves those users to the Antigravity products. Gemini CLI signs in with a Google Cloud project (an account in Google's cloud service) or with a Gemini API key (a code that lets a program use Gemini). This page shows the Google Cloud project way. With a Google Cloud project, Gemini CLI uses Vertex AI.

Sign in with a Google Cloud project

  1. In PowerShell, run gcloud auth application-default login one time. You do not need to repeat it later. gcloud is Google Cloud's command-line tool.
  2. Set these three environment variables (settings that programs read when they start): GOOGLE_GENAI_USE_VERTEXAI = true, GOOGLE_CLOUD_PROJECT = your project ID (the name of your project in Google Cloud), and GOOGLE_CLOUD_LOCATION = a location such as global.

Start Gemini CLI

  1. Open PowerShell — search for "PowerShell" in the Start menu.
  2. Type the two lines below, and press Enter after each. The first line (cd) moves to the folder on the drive — replace Z:\Exports with your folder. The second starts Gemini CLI:

    cd Z:\Exports
    gemini

  3. The first time you start Gemini CLI in a folder, it asks whether you trust that folder. Answer that you trust it.

  4. Ask for the work — for example "Analyze the yearly export results in this folder and make a PowerPoint presentation. Save it here as a .pptx file, and don't leave any other new files in this folder."

Gemini CLI reads files in that folder without asking. It asks before it runs a command or changes a file.

In this recording Gemini CLI, signed in to a Google Cloud project, makes the same PowerPoint presentation in Z:\Exports.

Antigravity app

The Antigravity app works in a folder on the drive, like Gemini CLI. It reads the files there, runs commands and saves its results to the folder:

  1. In the Antigravity app, click Create New Project (the folder icon next to Projects), then New Project.
  2. In the folder picker, choose the folder on the drive (for example Z:\Exports) and click Select Folder.

  3. Ask for the work in the message box — for example "Analyze the yearly export results in this folder and make a PowerPoint presentation. Save it here as a .pptx file, and don't leave any other new files in this folder."

  4. When the Antigravity app asks before a command, choose Yes, allow this time and click Submit.

The app asks in the conversation before every command, also before one that only reads a file.

Antigravity CLI

  1. Open PowerShell — search for "PowerShell" in the Start menu.
  2. Type the two lines below, and press Enter after each. The first line (cd) moves to the folder on the drive — replace Z:\Exports with your folder. The second starts Antigravity CLI:

    cd Z:\Exports
    agy

  3. The first time you start Antigravity CLI in a folder, it asks whether you trust that folder. Answer that you trust it.

  4. Ask for the work — for example "Analyze the yearly export results in this folder and make a PowerPoint presentation. Save it here as a .pptx file, and don't leave any other new files in this folder."

Antigravity CLI reads files in that folder without asking. It asks before it creates a file, runs a command, or opens a file outside the folder.

In this recording Antigravity CLI reads the four yearly export workbooks in Z:\Exports and saves a PowerPoint presentation in the same folder. Antigravity CLI shows paths with /, such as Z:/Exports — the same folder as Z:\Exports.

Keep Antigravity CLI in the folder

Say in the request which files to use — for example "using only the files in this folder". When Antigravity CLI asks to open a file outside the folder, or to run a command you do not need, answer no. To make sure Antigravity CLI cannot change the originals, connect the drive read-only.
