Google Drive

Mount Google Drive as a Windows drive. Files stream on demand; nothing is mirrored to local disk.

Before you begin

Prepare the following in advance:

  • A Google account.

Connect

  1. Click Add in the toolbar.
  2. Choose Personal → Google Drive.
  3. Pick what to mount: My Drive (default), Shared with me, Shared drives, or Folder — a specific folder (see Mount a specific folder below).
  4. Set the drive letter and name.
  5. Click Connect. Your browser opens — sign in to Google and click Allow.

Mount a specific folder

Instead of the whole Drive, you can mount the selected folder.

Folder tab selected

Specify the folder one of two ways:

  • Click the folder icon to open a folder browser — it asks you to sign in first, then double-click into the folder you want and click OK.
  • Or select the Shared Link tab and paste the URL directly. Open the folder at drive.google.com and copy the URL from your browser's address bar.

Folder browser

Computer backups aren't browsable in-app — get the folder's URL from drive.google.com/drive/computers instead, and paste it into Shared Link.

Behavior & limits

  • Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides are web-native documents — they appear on the drive as .gdoc, .gsheet, and .gslides files that open in the browser rather than as local files.
  • Files deleted on the drive are moved to Google Drive's Trash, where they can be restored.
  • Heavy parallel transfers may be throttled by Google API quotas.
  • Google Drive allows characters Windows doesn't — an existing name using one shows up percent-encoded on the drive; see FAQ.

Troubleshooting

Symptom Cause Fix
Sign-in window loops Stale cached credential Remove the account in RaiDrive and connect again
Expected files missing Wrong Drive section mounted Check whether the drive points at My Drive or Shared drives
"The user's Drive storage quota has been exceeded" The account's total Google storage is full Free space across the account (Drive, Gmail, Photos, trash)
Uploading into Shared with me fails The folder counts against the owner's storage Ask the owner to free up space
